XIV LATIN AMERICAN NUTRITION CONGRESS
FLORIANÓPOLIS, BRAZIL
12th – 16th NOVEMBER 2006

Main title: Nutrogenomics: from the phenotype to genotype.

There were discussions related to the progression of NTCD in Latin American countries: Obesity, Diabetes, Anemia, Cancer, CVD, Food Production and their irregular distribution. Besides of that were discussed problems like food guides in Latin American countries, bone growth and development, transgenic food, Indian nutritional system and status in Latin America, monetary transference programs, new children parameters of growth evaluation, food in  scholarship, geriatric nutrition. Several courses pre congress related to investigation techniques in Nutrition were offered. 

We had 106 scientific sessions: lectures, mini-lectures, symposiums, workshops, free communications, and posters sections. Parallel meetings were organized by several institutions from the Nutrition area.

We registered 1644 delegates from all over Latin America countries: Brazil, México, Argentina, Chile, Venezuela, etc.

We invited 176 speakers from all over the world.

1200 abstracts were accepted for presentation in the congress, as oral 320, as posters: 320 were visited by a Scientific Commission and other 320 were presented for interested delegates. Awards were given to the best papers in two versions: for students and for professionals.
