Annual congress:

The last congress was held in Acapulco in December 2004 with an attendance of 1280. The next meeting  will be hold in Mérida, Yucatán in December 2005 

Courses:

The international course “Evaluation and management of obesity” will take place on June 24-25, 2005 in Mexico City. Organized by the Society in conjunction with the National Institute of Medical Sciences and Nutrition, the General Hospital and the North American Association for the study of Obesity (NAASO) it will include  21 conferences. A similar course will be hold in Merida Yucatán within the Annual Congress

The Journal:

The 12 years old journal of the Society, Revista de Endocrinología y Nutrición, continues to be publisheed quarterly

Committees:

During 2004 a 20 members task group was appointed to prepare a propossal of the position of the Society on obesity including definitions, risk factors,  pathogenesis, diagnosis, medical complications, treatment (nutritional, exercise, education, pharmacological), psychological aspects and obesity in children and adolescents. The propossal was approved and a  72 pages report was published (in Spanish) in the journal of the Society (Revista de Endocrinología y Nutrición) 2004;12 (4; Suppl 3): S79-S151 The report includes the 8 pages position of the Society and 13 papers presenting the scientific support
